Terms and Conditions

GENERAL CONDITIONS

  1. Travel Expenses will be charged for tours starting and/or finishing outside Edinburgh city centre. Travel expenses will be charged at the return rail fare, where applicable, or at a rate of £0.45 per mile. Travel time at guiding rates will be charged for tours with pick-up or drop-off outside Scotland.
     
  2. Accommodation expenses prior and/or after the tour must be reimbursed where applicable.
     
  3. Either the Guide should be included in meal and accommodation arrangements during the tour or an appropriate allowance must be paid.
     
  4.  Reasonable communication costs (eg by telephone, text, e-mail, etc) for standard organisation, administration and communication in relation to tours are included in fees; however, such costs for exceptional situations (e.g. service failure) must be reimbursed.
     
  5. Tour programmes and itineraries must be submitted to the Guide at the time of booking or as soon as possible thereafter. Guides reserve the right to withdraw their services at any point if they deem programmes and itineraries as unrealistic.
     
  6. All terms must be agreed between operators/agents and the Guide prior to departure, preferably at the time of booking or confirmation. Operators/agents should notify the Guide immediately of any changes to their tours or of any purported alterations to their terms and conditions.
     
  7. We appreciate and welcome all feedback on our services from operators/agents, clients and visitors. Please e-mail your comments.
 

PAYMENT CONDITIONS

  • Payments to Saint Andrew's Tours can be made in Sterling only (ie GBP/£) by bank payments in advance (or by cash to the Guide but only by prior arrangement). We regret that we are unable to accept payment by credit card.

  • NB: Overseas payments may attract bank charges (these are approx £7-£10 from a European country & £10- £15 from non-European countries) and these must be met by the client. Clients are responsible for ensuring payment in full covers all bank charges.

  •  NB: Entrance charges to attractions, historic sites, etc are not included in fees; these would be additional.

  •  NB: For walking tours a group of 20-25 visitors = 1 Guide, if there are more than this then an additional Guide, or Guides, is required.

  •  Full Day Tours (ie those lasting more than 8 hours): a supplementary payment for each additional hour or part thereof is also payable. A lunch allowance is also payable if the Guide is not included in the meal arrangements.

  •  Half Day Tours (ie those lasting more than 4 hours, or ending after 13.00hrs): a supplementary payment for each additional hour or part thereof is also payable.

  •  Extended Tours (ie tours which last for more than one day): lunch, dinner, bed & breakfast (or an appropriate alternative) must be provided. Overtime work and expenses must be agreed prior to departure. Travel expenses: (e.g. to a pick-up point or from drop-off point) are also payable (see above).

CANCELLATION CHARGES

  • Full Day Tours (ie those lasting more than 8 hours) & Half Day Tours (ie those lasting more than 4 hours, or ending after 13.00hrs): if less than 7 days notice of cancellation is given, then a fee of 50% is payable; if less than 48 hours notice of cancellation is given, then the full fee is payable.

  • Extended Tours (ie tours which last for more than one day): if less than 28 days notice is given, then a fee of 50% is payable; if less than 7 days notice of cancellation is given, then the full fee is payable

  • NB: Any cancellations should be communicated as soon as possible. Written confirmation should be given.

  • NB: Guides will do their best to honour tours. However, should the need for cancellation arise, all reasonable efforts will be made to find a replacement Guide. We ask operators/agents for their understanding and co-operation.
